Dolphin Cottage
Guests return again and again to this cottage of great character. This was originally part of the Porthallow estate owned by the Salusbury Trelawney family during the long period from 1600 to 1919 and is converted from the granary and coach house. Much later it was acquired by Peter Greenwood, a cornish cabinet maker and also a potter of considerable skill, and it was in part of this building where the kiln was in which he fired the dolphin which adorns the north east corner of the cottage. During the second world war the building was used by the Home Guard and written on the wall of the garden room there still remains a record of grenades stored there. Dolphin Cottage is set in an enclosed courtyard with one other cottage where housekeepers Mark and Karen live. Offering an ideal base for a rural family holiday within easy reach of the sea and the coastal footpath and with views to the cliffs and sea. It is only 350 yards down the steep winding lane to the beach or through the field with magnificent view of the bay. It has a patio for barbeques and shared use of a laundry room with washing machine and tumble dryer and room to store beach gear. One small to medium sized dog is welcome, and a travel cot and high chair are available.- Open plan kitchen/dining room with electric cooker, fridge/freezer, microwave oven and dishwasher.

- Cosy and comfortable sitting room with TV and DVD and video and stairs leading to landing above.
- Double bedded room with rural and sea views.
- Twin bedded room with rural and sea views. (An extra bed can be provided here at additional charge).
- Bathroom with bath, basin and w.c.
- Beds have duvets and blankets. Linen can be provided at additional charge. (We do not include the cost of this in the cottage charge for those who prefer to bring their own linen).
- Electricity inclusive.
- Three night storage heaters, convector heater and electric radiator and stove.
- Changeover day normally FRIDAY available from 3 p.m and departing by 10:00 a.m. (or sometimes later by arrangement).
- SHORTBREAKS by arrangement.
- Telephone: The signal for mobile phones is chancy in the cottages but a few yards up the road is better, or the Mayman's or Owen's phones would be available in emergency.
- PARKING is on forecourt by cottage.
- A dog is welcome by arrangement at £18 per week.
- Wireless broadband available from the sun room of dolphin cottage, wireless key will be provided on request, this will be free of charge.
